China (639M units) remains the largest AC/DC motor producing country in Asia-Pacific, accounting for 88% of total volume. Moreover, AC/DC motor production in China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, Japan (23M units), more than tenfold.
In China, AC/DC motor production increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the period from 2013-2024. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Japan (-1.6% per year) and Indonesia (+0.1% per year).
In 2024, ac/dc motor imports in Asia-Pacific rose significantly to 200M units, increasing by 11% on 2023 figures. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the period from 2013 to 2024; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 20% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 203M units. From 2022 to 2024, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% from 2013 to 2024; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. From 2013 to 2024, the share of China and Vietnam increased by +4.4 and +2 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($7.5B) remains the largest AC/DC motor supplier in Asia-Pacific, comprising 56% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Japan ($2.2B), with a 17% share of total exports.
